Janelle joined the Pivotal team in 2013 to cover a maternity leave at our Fort Saskatchewan clinic. She recently joined the Northgate team in May 2014 and now treats at both of our clinics. So lets spend some time getting to know Janelle as one of our new members of the team.
Janelle has been an avid yogi since 2008. If you’ve ever been around physiotherapists, you’ll notice that they all have one thing in common: indulging in physically active hobbies. Physiotherapists are keen advocators for healthy lifestyles and Janelle has proven to be an active role model in the Yoga community. In addition to Yoga, she loves snowboarding, reading novels, photography, dancing (ballet, jazz, lyrical) and traveling.
Janelle decided to become a Physiotherapist because of her interest in how the body moves and works and it allowed her to help others enjoy activities that are meaningful to them.
Her favourite thing about being a physiotherapist is “Getting to know my patients and having fun with them! Although the majority of the patients I see are at Physio because they have pain, I find that we can always find moments to smile and laugh. They make my job not feel like work and I truly do look forward to coming to the clinic each day”.
Janelle’s future goals as a physiotherapist are “To continue to learn more about injuries and conditions and the most effective ways to rehabilitate them, while tailoring the treatment plan to the patient’s individual goals and involving them in their own healing process. Next year I look forward to becoming a Spinal Manipulating Therapist and continuing to take Acupuncture courses”.
She is certified in acupuncture and is currently working towards her levels in manual therapy. Cupping therapy is also one of Janelle’s dependable resources in her tool kit. Click here to learn more about cupping therapy.
Many people walk through our clinic doors seeking hands-on treatment for physical injuries. However, getting to know your body from the inside out is key. Janelle is a great educator as a physiotherapist and incorporates patient education into her treatment plans.
Just for fun: If you could have any super power what would it by and why?
FLYING! That way I could travel places quicker and the view would be amazing!
As an active yoga practitioner, Janelle can relate to the importance of a well-balanced mind and body. Physiotherapists are great coaches, advisors and healers. A successful completion of your physical rehabilitation starts with your physiotherapist, and Janelle is here to help!
