MPhty, Dry Needling
Hi, I’m Kim, a physiotherapist out of Pivotal’s High Performance Centre downtown. I graduated in 2008 from the U of A with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Sports Performance and Physical Activity. This is where my fascination for the human body, passion for exercise, and love of working with people to help achieve their goals and find success really flourished. I then pursued a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy, which I completed in 2010 at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. I have dedicated my whole career to working in a sports physiotherapy setting, and have received further training in Functional and Biomedical Dry Needling, Kinesiotape, FMS, and am a registered running specialist with the Running Clinic. I have also attended multiple courses where I’ve built my skills as a manual therapist with myofascial release and mobilization with movement, and I’ve also had the opportunity to advance my knowledge on establishing patient-specific exercise correction, prescription, and programming.
I love working with a wide variety of clients and injuries including pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation, motor vehicle collisions, athletic injuries, preventative rehab, and those looking solely to improve performance or overall health and wellness. In the past I’ve been involved in team and individual sports where I suffered both acute and overuse injuries requiring physiotherapy. As a result, I can understand and relate to the physical, emotional, and mental stress an injury can cause. My goals are to educate and support you throughout your recovery. We will work together towards developing a rehabilitation plan that is suited to your individual needs and one that will encourage enhanced body movement and function.
When I’m not in the clinic you can find me running after my triplets and teaching group fitness classes. I also have a love for hot yoga, weight training, and getting outside for some fresh air in the form of a run or bike. As a busy mom of three toddlers, I know that time is precious, and I hope to be able to get you back enjoying life and your activities as quickly as possible.
