BMgt (Honours), MScPT, Acupuncture, Dry Needling
Hi, I’m Mike Salame, a Physiotherapist here at Pivotal. I graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management (BMgt) in 2013, and then enrolled in the Physical Therapy program at the University of Alberta, graduating with my Master’s Degree (MScPT) in 2017. It was a personal ACL knee injury that opened my eyes to the wonderful world of physical therapy and allowed me to pursue a career in this field.
I’m a huge proponent of continual growth and I’m always looking to expand my skills and knowledge as a healthcare practitioner. I have begun my post-graduate training with the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association with this personal mandate in mind.
My treatment style consists of manual therapy and the prescription of therapeutic exercises that align with my patient’s rehab goals. Education plays a large component in my practice, with emphasis on information about the injury, strategies to manage the injury/condition at home, and different ways to approach the rehabilitation process. My aim is to get to know my patients, find out what is important to them, and work closely in getting them back to where they want to be.
I’m an active person that enjoys running, hockey, soccer, and football. Sports are a huge interest of mine and I’ve been following the Edmonton Oilers religiously for a very long time. My hope, like many Oiler fans, is that they will one day repay me with a playoff berth! We can worry about a Stanley Cup after that – one step at a time. Want to learn more about me?
