Hi, I’m Allison! I graduated from the University of Alberta with a Master of Science in Physiotherapy. Prior to this, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta and completed two years of design and photography education at Grant MacEwan University. I was born and raised here in Edmonton and I love being part of the team at Pivotal in Northgate Centre! Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare because I wanted to make a true difference in people’s lives. When I was nineteen, I accompanied my grandmother to a physio appointment and this was when I realized physiotherapy could be the career for me – I love the idea of helping people regain and improve their mobility and function. Whether you have a sports injury, work-related injury, injuries due to a motor vehicle accident, or have a nagging pain that won’t go away, I would love to work with you and help you get back to the things you love to do!
My physiotherapy treatment philosophy is based on the belief that a thorough assessment is key to the development of a successful treatment plan. My treatment approach consists of various manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercise, and education. Above all else, I employ a patient-centered approach where we work as a team to develop a treatment plan that incorporates activities of interest to you and where your treatment success is determined by your specific goals.
Outside of the clinic, you will find me spending time with my family and friends; most likely playing board games, getting crafty with various DIY projects, or keeping active either outside or at the yoga studio. In the winter I enjoy hot yoga and skiing in the mountains. In the summer months you will find me outside hiking, biking, or playing slo-pitch. In the summer of 2018, my husband and I spent a week hiking around Jasper, which ignited my passion for hiking. Since then we have explored much of the Canadian Rockies around Jasper, Canmore, Banff, and the Kananaskis region, and were able to hike in the Dolomites of Italy in 2019. We look forward to many more hiking trips in the future with our young daughter!
