RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Title: Kinesiologist Coordinator
Reports to: Clinician Lead
Department: Operations
Office Locations: High Performance Centre
JOB SUMMARY
The role of Kinesiologist Coordinator is to provide guidance and mentorship to the Kinesiologists, Physiotherapy Assistants, students, and volunteers. The Kinesiologist Coordinator participates alongside the Clinic Manager in the recruitment, training and performance management of the clinical support team, including development and maintenance of training plans and resource planning.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree or Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from a recognized University.
- 2-3 years of experience in a clinical setting
- Previous experience in people management is an asset.
- Experience leading and demonstrating exercise
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Care
- Responsible for coordinating and monitoring flow of patients through treatment space.
- Communicate the arrival of patients to the appropriate treating professional.
- Lead and assist the patient to their designated treatment space.
- Kinesiologists have additional accountability to collaborate with the Physiotherapist to recommend and instruct patients on exercise prescriptions.
- Assist Physiotherapists with exercise program modifications and application of therapeutic modalities.
- Perform client checks to ensure comfort and undertake any necessary action during treatment.
Clinic Maintenance
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms prior to patient use.
- Clean and sanitize all equipment, hydrocollators, IFC machines, ultrasound machines, gym equipment, hand exercise tools, wax bath and plinths, as per Alberta Health Services standards.
- Monitor flow of laundry and ensure adequate linens are available for use at all times.
- Ensure cleanliness of overall clinic space.
- Assist front desk with required duties including answering phone calls, faxing, shredding, organizing patient files, putting away supplies and attending to patient concerns.
Team Mentorship
- Act as the training lead for all new clinical support members.
- Develop training resources, execute training plans and assist in performance management and continued education.
- Act as a first point of contact for clinical support staff for operational and role specific questions and guidance.
- Actively work with staff to maintain workflow efficiencies and assist with task delegation as needed throughout the day.
- Cultivate a positive and supportive work environment, committed to the health, safety, and wellness of all employees.
- Represent the support team in operational meetings to communicate team targets, goals and site-specific projects.
Operational Oversight
- Work with clinical lead to oversee the quality and consistency of patient care.
- Work with clinical lead to oversee overall daily operations of the clinical support team.
- Ensure compliance of company policies and procedures.
- Work with Clinic Manager to develop staffing plans, participate in recruitment and manage scheduling and scheduling changes.
- Track and maintain records of staff attendance, absences and shift changes. Reporting any notable records to the Clinic Manager.
- Alongside the Clinic Manager- conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Clinical Lead and Clinic Manager to increase operational efficiencies and ensure consistent implementations of procedures and practices at their site.
- Provide updates and ongoing communication to Clinical Lead and Clinic Manager and the executive management team when required.
Student & Volunteer Management
- Explore, develop and maintain relationships with new and existing schools, colleges and programs.
- Manage recruitment process, training and communication of upcoming student placements.
- Develop training plans and training resources.
- Coordinate and fulfill preceptor requirements.
- Maintain appropriate volunteer hours, including the creation of schedules for volunteer program participants.
- Supervise volunteer participants, monitor attendance hours and produce completion letters.

Pivotal Physiotherapy Volunteer Program
Are you interested in Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Therapy Assistant or any other health and wellness field? We have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
Our volunteer program provides individuals with practical experience working alongside our professional and qualified support staff.
Program Commitment
Minimum 32-hour commitment- One 4-hour shift per week for 8 weeks
Additional requested hours can be accommodated.
Program Outline
Volunteers will be working directly with the Physiotherapy Aides and Kinesiologists.
The role and responsibilities fall within current parameters of our support staff and will include:
- Ushering patients from the waiting room to the treatment space
- Upon request assisting with patient set up
- Preparing patient rooms
- Basic cleaning
- Laundry
- Contribution to the overall flow of patient’s treatment sessions
Volunteers are ambassadors of Pivotal Physiotherapy and as such are expected to follow the standard policies and procedures of the organization.
Upon completion, participants will receive a completion and reference letter.
