Ride2Rebuild

The mountain bikers of Pivotal Physiotherapy and Sherwood Park Sports Physiotherapy have partnered this year to raise funds to support the rebuilding of Ningale, a village in the Langtang district of Nepal.

On their trip to Nepal back in 2013, Teresa and Doug Gilroy from Sherwood Park Sports Physiotherapy met and made friends with Mandil Pradhan and his crew. Mandil owns and operates Himalayan Rides, an incredible mountain bike guiding company. Teresa and Doug were lucky enough to enjoy a once in a lifetime cultural experience along with exceptional riding through the Nepalese mountains.

Following the devastation of the Nepal quake, it came to their attention that a small group of local Nepalese riders were working diligently to provide not only immediate relief to Ningale, but also sustained support to rebuild the 10-20 of the village homes destroyed in the quake. Ningale holds sentimental value as it is home to few of the porters employed by Mandil at Himalayan Rides.

When Mandil’s cause came to our attention, it seemed a perfect fit for our community of riders to help support fellow riders. Mandil is partnered with Resilient Homes who are able to construct primary homes for $2,500 each. These homes will withstand future earthquake activity.

Teresa and Doug approached Pivotal Physiotherapy and joined forces to create RIDE2REBUILD. On Saturday July 18, 2015 Team Pivotal happily represented RIDE2REBUILD and completed the 24 Hours of Adrenalin Mountain Bike Race in Canmore, Alberta.

We are asking for donations to help us achieve our goal of raising $25,000 for our fundraising initiative RIDE2REBUILD. The money raised will finance the funds needed to reconstruct the homes in Ningale. You can donate online here.
